Abstract Insulin resistance with its associated metabolic problems, is frequently met with in subjects consuming high fat diet. The present study is conducted to re-assess the effect of high fat diet on glucose utilization and evaluate the effect of six-week exercise-training program on insulin resistance in rats. Young male Albino rats are randomly allocated to either low fat or high fat diet. Fe”, days after familiarization to the new environment and diet, high fed rats are further subdivided into sedentary and physically t ra.i.ned group. The present study includes the following groups : Group I:50 rats feed low fat-high carbohydrate diet and leading a sedentary life Group II:50 rats feed high fat-low carbohydrate diet and leading a sedentary life. Group III:50 rats feed high fat--low carbohydrate diet and are physically trained, through a 6-WK exercise program. |
