Abstract children of both sexes with an age ranges from 9 Monthes to 14 yee:rs with different malignant disor¬ders were studied together with 8 nor.mal controls. The patients were classified into .3 groups which are aoute lymphoblastic leukemia (10 cases), malignant lymphoma (7 cases) which include Hodg~~s and non¬Hodgkin’ s disease and neuroblastoma (5 cases). They were subjected to thourgh clinical examination and laboratory investigation for the determination of serum and sali vary IgA. This study confirms previous data reported by KhaJifa et ale (1974) and others, that serum 19A dec¬reased at initial diagnosis of different malignant disorders, insp1 te of the presence of infection in some of these cases, and this may be a predisposing factor to malignancy as that in patients with various immlmodeficiency diseases, malignancy approximately 10.000 times more frequent than in general population, or this reduction due to increase in its :rate of cata¬bolism, or depletion of lymphocytes. or it may be as in cases of ne uro blastoma due to ”blocking” factors in the serum of these patients. |
