Abstract Thhis work was done on two group:- 1- The first group comprised 15 normal children (age 2-15 years, 9 males and 6 females ). Taken as reference group. 2- The second group comprised 35 patients with convqlsive seizures. This group was classified to :A- 20 children with idiopathic type of epilepsy. (age 2-15 years, 11 males and 9 females).8- 15 children with acute convulsions(infe ’c tious group) (age 2-6 years, 10 males and 5 females). The epileptic patients were classified according to :1- The activity of the disease. 2- The frequency of the attacks. J- The duration of the disease. 4- The type of treatment. lerum calcium and magnesiqm levels estimation were done for both groups by colourimetric methodes. The work revealed the following results : As reagards serum calcium :- 1- lie) significant changes in serum calciull in epileptic patien ents in relation to normal reference group and patients with acute convulsions. 2- The serum calcium level was found to be significantly decreased in acute convulsions as oompared to control group. On the other hand serum magnesium level shows. |
