Abstract Although hydatid disease in man has long been recognized as one of the most important helminth zoonosis in many parts of the world, yet its importance in Egypt in general and in the Dakahlia Governorate in Particular as one of the most important agricul¬tural Governorates of Egypt, has not been thoroughly emphasized. Preliminary surveyes for the parasite in dogs and farm animals, as well as serological surveyes in man, suggest that there is the potential hazard of the existance of the disease among the Egyptians. Because of these findings, a study was undertaken to throw a light on the magintude of the disease in a sector area of EGypt. The Dakahlia Governorate.
