Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most common problems in modern society. Despite the common occurrence of back pain, in most cases a specific diagnosis can not be reached. LBP is just a symptom and not a specific disease entity. There are various diagnoses and clinical syndromes of LBP based on a combination of causative pathology and anatomic sites. In spite of this, there is still a need for a uniform classification of clinical syndromes. Correct diagnosis is important as the treatment must be directed to the cause. Careful history taking together with entailed physical examination.wiU help greatly to ascertain diagnosis. Diagnostic studies can provide helpful confirmatory information. Plain radiographs provide the simplest and most readily available diagnosis of the exact pathology. The advent of computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging has aided much to the accuracy of the diagnosis. The number and variety of non-invasive and invasive therapy available for back and leg pain are overwhelming.
