Abstract In the present work 80 patients (85 eyes) presented with the different clinical forms of herpes simplex viral keratitis as punctate, dendritic, ameoboid and disciform types were undergoing treatment with four different groups of antiviral agents, as I.D.U. , trifluorothymidine, vi¬darabine and zovirax, patients are classified into 4 groups and each group includes 20 patients presented with the different clinical forms of herpetic viral keratitis and also includes cases that presented with the first clini¬cal attack as well as cases that presented with recurrent attacks. The response to each drug is recorded and the time of corneal non staining with fluorescein that indicate re-epithelialization of ulcers as well as clinical finding. after use of antiviral drugs are recorded to evaluate the effect of these four different antiviral agents on herpes simplex viral keratitis and a comparative study between the four antiviral drugs is performed. As regard the effectivity of druges, trifluorothymidine and zovirax gave better results and good response in treatment of herpetic keratitis than I.D.U. and vidara¬bine. |
