Abstract This study was carried out at the Obstetric and Gynaecology Department of Mansoura Univesity Hospital during the period from September 1993 till Jun, 1994, upon (100) gravida with pregnancy induced hypertension. All women were subjected to the following (careful history taking, clinical examination, ultrasound examination for assessment of the AFI and fetal biometry and followed up by twice weekly AFI I and intrapartum AFI during the latent phaseof labor. For this study we defined oligohydramnios when AFI ~5cm and borderline oligohydramnios when AFI 5.1-7cm and normal AFI 7.1- < 25 em. Polyhydramnios when AFI >25 em. The aim of this study is to describe the changes in the AFI in relation to the severity of pregnancy induced hypertension and to determine the relationship of low AFI I fetal distress and fetal growth retardation in cases of pregnancy induced hypertension. |
