Abstract
The present study was carried out in the Clinical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Department,Mansoura University Hospital ,aiming at studying the value of renal scintigraphy in early and accurate detection of cisplatin nephrotoxicity in cancer patients receiving this cytotxic drugs. The study was carried out on 40 patients with different types of cancer {bronchogenic carcinoma ,head and neck cancer and others},presented to the department during the period from December ,1995 to October,1996. All patients were subjected to estimation of serum creatinine level ,creatinine clearance value ,dynamic renal imaging {using 99 IDTc-DTPA },static renal imaging{using 99mTc_DMSA} and 99 mTc DMSA uptake percentage .All the tests were performed both before and after cisplatin therapy. In this study ,there significant correlation between serum creatinine level and creatinine clearance value -before and after cisplatin therapy -and sex and age distribution. But there was no correlation between age and sex ,and cisplatin nephrotoxicity as.
