Abstract The aim of this work was to study the effect of eradication of oesophageal varices by endoscopic injection sclerotherapy on the pattern of portosystemic col laterals as well as hepatic perfusion. Ten patients presented with bleeding oesophageal varices comprised the material of this study, the~r age” ranged from 20-60 years, no hi story of previous endoscopic variceal sclerotherapy or history of previous splenectomy. Portal angiography has been done before endoscopic injection sclerotherapy and one month after complete eradication of patients oesophageal varices. There were 3 cases who had no angiographically detectable coliaterais before sc lerotherapy, complete ob l iteration of gastro-oesophageal varices in (5) cases and no obliteration in (2) cases after sclerotherapy, no detectable new col laterals were found in the (10) cases. As regard hepatic perfusion before and after sclerotherapy, (4) cases showed no angiographic changes, (5) cases showed angiographic improvement one case showe |
