Abstract

1.In the present studies,194-3 cases were examined* These cases comprised ; 70 cases from ginning sec¬tions f9^0 cases from weaving sections^ 328 cases from preparatory section^ 425 cases from printing and dyeing sections and 200 cases from other occapations in textile industry, 2*110 oases out of the examined 19^3 oases, gave positive patch test. 3.68 cases out of these 110 cases were from printing acid dyeing sections, the remaining cases( 42 ) were froms preparatory sections( 25 cases ), weaving sections ( 10 oases ) and ginning sections ( 7 cases ). 4.Concerning ginning and weaving sections, positive patch tests were confined to plumbers and’ mechanists, a pruof that crude cotton and cotton fibers are not skin sensi~ tisers. 5« Chrornate salts have the- highest sensitising effect, followed by paraphenylenecliatnine, naphbha dye and nickelp 6.Cross sensitivity had been observed between paraphcny-leno diamine, aniline dye and azo salts in dyeing workers. 7*Sera of the 110 cases that showed active contact derma¬titis were iiauiunoelectrophoretically studied* 8.Absence of BIc globulin had been observed in the patterns of all these 110 cases. Besides^ in 90 cases IgM was reduced, while its complete absence was observed in 3 cases* Consequently probable suggestions had been offered for explanation of these findings* Subsidence of lessions of contact dermatitis was associated with a normal immunoeleotrophoretic pattern* 9*Absence of BIc globulin has been similarly observed in, bullous fluid collected from 3 cases of contact derma¬titis. Meanwhile IgM was reduced in 2 cases and is completely absent in the third case.
