Abstract The present study included 24 children with age ranging from 5-14 year with first attack of active RF whom fullfill reversed jones criteria and were admitted in the pediatric Department. Patients were classified into two groups, Group I included 10 patients with migratory palyarthitis as the sole manifestation with age ranging from 8-14year. Acetyl salicylic acid (ASA) was given. Group II included 14 patients with age ranging from 5-13 years with carditis, 10 patient had polyarthitis in addition, 4 patients had only carditis as the sole major manifestions. ASA and prednisone were given. 10 patients were included into the study and considerd as a control group. All patients were subjected to history and clinical examination, determination of acute phase reactants and streptococal antibody test (ASO) electrocardiography tracing, radiological examination of heart and echocardiographic exam inati on. The aim of the study is to clarify the possible role of plasma cytokines TNFa, IL 1 and 1L6 patients with acute rhematic fever and their relation to the manifestation of ARF DfOIU. |
