Abstract

1)Histlogical and histochemical studies on the alimentary canal of oreochromis niloticus clarified the nutritional requirements for vitellogenesis and Spermatogenesis. 2)The process of maturation could be classified to the following stages: 1Immature 2 Mature 3 Nearly ripe stage 4Ripe stage 5 Spawning stage 6 Spent stage. 3) Monthly distribution of the maturity stages revealed that the O. niloticus is asynchronus fish and has a long spawning season extending from Apil to September. 4) The process of Oogenesis in O. mlolicus is classified into five stages. These stages are: 1 Chromatin nucleolus stage. 2 Early perinucleolus stage. 3 Late perinucleolus stage. 4 Lipid yolk vesicle stage. 5 Yolky stages. 5) The process of spermatogenesis of the testis is classified into six stages. These stages are: 1 Sperm mother cells. 2 Spermatogonia 3 Primary spermatocytes. 4 Secondary spermatocytes. 5 Spermateds 6 Spermatozoa.
