Abstract The present work is to prepare a new modified resin by loading Girard T and its salicoylhydrazone derivative on the cationic exchanger Duolite C20 resin. Such loading is carried out for the first time, so a complete characterization of the obtained modified resins is conducted using different physicochemical techniques e.g. IR, potentiometry, thermal and elemental analyses. Further, the optimum conditions for selective separation and preconcentration for Cu(II), Mn(II), Ni(II), Al(III) and Fe(III) are indicated. Also, the preconcentration of other divalent ions such as Co(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II), Pb(II) and trivalent ions such as Cr(III) have been carried out under the optimum work conditions. The proposed modified resins were applied for the preconcentration of the studied trace metal ions from natural water, drugs, crude oil, ash coal, alloys and certified samples prior to their determination with AAS and /or simple visible spectrophotometric techniques. |
