Abstract A mass spectrometer VARIAN - MAT CH - DF of reversed Nier - Johnson geometry was used to investigate the ionization and fragmentation of the following aliphatie aldehydes : 1- Acetaldehyde 2- Propionaldehyde 3- Butyraldehyde 4- Isobutyraldehyde 5- N-Valeraldehyde 6- Capronaldehyde 7- Onenthaldehyde 8- Acrolein 9- Methacrolein 10- Crotonaldehyde. It was aimed to investigate the applicability of the Quasi Equilibrium Theory (Q.E.T.) to such molecules. It was necessary to know the reactions by which the molecule breaks down into its fragments and the energy required for such reactions. |
