Abstract The aim of the present investigation was to study the seasonal distribution of the fungal content in 12 water resources in Dakahlia province. It aims also to finding out the effects of some pollutants on fungal growth and metaboloism of some dominant species present in different sites. The chemical and physical analysis of water samples was carried out and it was found to have a marked effect on the fungal flora and the numbers of fungi in the different seasons. The fungal count was higher in the water of Damietta branch and its canals; which were relatively moderate in temperature, neutral pH, low concentrations of heavy metals and salts and high concentrations of dissolved oxygen; than in water of draining canals, where relatively low concentratio of dissolved oxygen, high concentrations of nitrogen compounds, phosphorus and heavy metals were found. |
