Abstract
The interesting pharamacological properties of benzofuran derivatives led us to study the various changes in the structure of this compounds, to synthesize some less toxic and more potent drugs. One of these variations is the introduction of heterocyclic moities in the 5- or 6- position of benzofuran. Part I : Synthesis and eractions of 8-hydroxyfurano-[2,3-g]benzopyran & 6-(ω-bromoacetyl)benzofuran. In this part 8-hydroxyfurano [2,3-g] benzopyran-6-one (II) was prepared via the reactio of 6-acetyl-5-methoxybenzofuran with ethyl carbonate in presence of sodium metal.
