Abstract

In our study, we found that Mean age of the study group was 57 (±13)
years, 60% were males.32 patients (32%) had DM, 20 patients (20%) were
hypertensive and 53 patients (53%) were smokers.
As regard laboratory data, bilirubin, GGT, ALP were statistically
significant between all groups except between groups of malignant obstruction.
Bilirubin level was elevated in group (I) and group II which was statistically
significant compared to other groups.
GGT and ALP were significantly higher in cholangiocarcinoma patients
compared to remaining groups . ALT and AST were significantly higher in Group
II compared to other groups .WBCs count was elevated in both group (I) and II.
CRP was markedly elevated in group (II) followed by group I with compared to
benign and no obstruction group.
All CCA are perihilar, other malignancies were (12 cancer pancreas and
8 hepatocellular carcinoma). Level of serum CA 19-9 in cholangiocarcinoma was
higher, when compared to other malignancies including (HCC & cancer head of
pancreas).CA19-9 level was higher in benign obstruction compared to control
group. AFP was highest in (HCC & cancer head of pancreas), while in
cholangiocarcinoma was near normal. CEA was higher in cholangiocarcinoma
compared to other malignancies including (HCC & cancer head of pancreas).
