Abstract

The global sugar production industry is a significant economic entity, generating multibillion-dollar revenues and consistently producing over 180 million tons of sugar annually. A crucial step in the sugar manufacturing process is juice extraction, which faces challenges due to inherent time delays in system dynamics. These delays introduce phase lags that complicate feedback control design, potentially diminishing control performance and extraction rates. Traditional time delay compensation techniques, such as the Smith predictor and Pade approximation, face limitations in handling unstable plants and require extensive computations for high-order systems.
