Abstract

This work aims to isolate of some endophytic bacteria from submerged wild plants growing in wastewater drains. Study the efficiency of the isolated bacterial endophytes to remove heavy metals such as Fe, Al, Co, Cr, Cu, Zn, Ni and Pb from the wastewater to render the sludge suitable for agricultural application so our objectives were:1. Collection of plant samples from their natural habitats and wastewater drains (canal drains). 2. Collection of water and sediment samples from selected sites to conduct the physical and chemical analysis (Water analysis).3. Isolation and purification of heavy metal resistant endophytic bacteria.4. Test of heavy metals resistance ability for the bacterial endophytes isolates.5. Morphological, molecular and biochemical identification of the isolated strains.6. Study the relationship between isolated bacterial endophytes each other. 7. Co-culturing of wheat with bacterial isolate for growth promoting.8. Study the effect of heavy metal resistant endophytic bacteria primmed with wheet seeds watered with tap water and wastewater.9. Estimation of growth parameters and phytochemical analysis.Through this study five floating plants (Typha domingensis, Cyperus articulates, Cyperus alopecuroides, Ranunculus sceleratus, and Alternanthera sessilis) collected from 3 heavy metals contaminated drains in Egypt (Faraskour drain, El-Serw drain, and Bahr El-Baqar drain) were selected for isolation of heavy metal resistant endophytic bacteria. where the whole healthy plants were collected from their habitats in the flowering stages, including roots, leaves, stems, and flowers randomly. Also, five wastewater samples were collected from each site. The physicochemical parameters and Heavy metal analysis were carried out for the five wastewater samples collected from each site. Samples collected from sites 4 and 5 (Bahr El-Baqar drain) showed the highest values for physicochemical parameters. Sites 4 and 5 also showed the highest values of Fe, Al, Mn, Co, K, and Zn metal ions. Whereas, sites 1, 2, and 3 showed the highest values of Cr, Cu, and Mg metal ions.
