Abstract

Phase analysis is a count based parameter derived from gated SPECT in based on principal of partial volume effect which is the maximum regional LV counts in a given region related to the wall thickness of the same region, this linear relation is used to calculate the wall thickness as result of variation in counts through cardiac cycle, when this variation processed with Fourier harmonic functions it measures the onset of mechanical contraction.
Phase analysis represent onset of myocardial contraction (OMC) or mechanical dyssynchrony as delay in OMC over the cardiac cycle, displayed either in phase histogram or phase map, phase histogram plots the onset of myocardial contraction as angle degree on the horizontal line of histogram against the frequency of the phase plotted on the vertical line, normal phase histogram show homogenous phase narrow & peaked shape.
Our aim was to assess LV mechanical dyssynchrony by phase analysis derived from gated SPECT-MPI in patients with known CAD referred for risk stratification as well as post MI heart failure patients referred for assessment of myocardial viability & examination of the relationship between LV mechanical dyssynchrony & cardiac outcome.
We studied one hundred and twelve consecutive patients with known CAD referred for risk stratification as well as post MI heart failure patients referred for assessment of myocardial viability will be enrolled in the study, SPECT-MPI protocol tailored according to patient`s clinical condition.
