Abstract
Cotton (Gossypium barbadense l.) in Egypt is attacked by various pests and diseases during the different stages of its development. Cotton leafworm, S. littoralis (Boisd.) is considered the most important pest attacking cotton in Egypt, so it plays an important role in cotton production the success in controlling such insect is considered to be of great economical importance. The second pest in this work is cotton aphid, Aphis. gossypii. from this point of view, this investigation aimed to evaluate the toxic effect of B. thuringiensis and some plant extracts (Azadirachtin, Ottelione, Menthol and C. speciosus extract) against 2nd larval instars of S. littoralis and to evaluate the toxic effect of C. speciosus extract, Ottelione and Menthol as new extracts against A gossypii. Moreover, studied the effect of B. thuringiensis, Azadirachtin and Ottelione compounds on histological activities against 4th larval instars of S. littoralis. Finally, detective the volatile compounds present in the C.speciosus extract by using Gas chromatography and Mass Spectroscopy technique.
