Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2-DM) is one of the most common chronic metabolic disorders of carbohydrates, fats, and protein metabolism that is characterized by insulin resistance and a relative deficiency in insulin secretions. Although, there are several treatment settings for T2-DM, they have several side effects on various vital organs. Ultimate need to find new replacements for T-2DM treatments is required. This study aimed to determine the impact ofscorpion venom (S.V) as an anti diabetic agent for T2-DM treatment. The median lethal dose (LD50) was determined, then sixty male Sprague Dawley rats were divided into 6 groups (N = 10) as follows; group 1 (Gp1) was left as normal control. Gp2 were naïve rats that were administered with Met (150 mg/kg) and Gp3 were naïve rats that were administered with S.V (1/40 LD50 mg/kg) intraperitoneal (i.p) daily for 8 weeks, respectively.
