Abstract

The aim of this study is to compare the short-term outcome of
morbidly obese patients treated with one anastomosis gastric bypass with
whom treated with SASI operation.
Background:
OAGB and SASI are two new operations of mini gastric bypass which
have been common used in treatment of obesity recently
Methods:
This prospective controlled study had been conducted at General
Surgery Department, Menoufia University, and it included 40 patients
divided randomly into two groups, group A, included 20 morbidly obese
patient whom treated with one anastomosis gastric bypass and group B
included morbidly obese 20 patients treated with SASI.
Results:
A total of 40 patients were included in our study (20 in OAGB and 20
in SASI). OAGB conferred significantly higher %EWL at 12 months than
SASI (88% vs 60% with p- value <0.001). Improvement in diabetes mellitus
and hypertension after OAGB was better than SASI (100% vs 42%), (85vs
60%) respectively. OABG required longer operation time than SASI (164vs
156 minutes). SASI caused more nutritional deficiencies than OAGB.
