Abstract S. aureus is among the most important bacteria causing food poisoning. The contamination of food with different food borne pathogens constitutes serious problems for consumers; therefore, the following study was performed on 100 random samples of meat products, (burger, chicken nuggets, luncheon and kofta.) (25 for each) were collected from different shops and supermarkets at Gharbia Governorate. In addition, studying the phenotypic characterization of the isolated bacterial strain; in-vitro anti-microbial sensitivity for them and genotypic characterization and detection of some virulence and resistance genes of some isolates of S.aureus by PCR technique The results of S. aureus isolation , revealed that, a total of 25 S.aureus isolates were obtained. S. aureus isolation showed that 25/100 (25 % strain were isolated 9/25 (36%) from burger, 7/25 (28%) from chicken nuggets, 6/25(24 %) from luncheon, 3/25 (12%) from kofta. The in- vitro sensitivity test for 25 isolates of S.aureus (revealed that, the isolated S.aureus were highly resistant for penicillin and flucloxacillin (96%) respectively , cefotaxime( 68%) , clindamycin (60 %) , erythromycin ( 56 % ), linezolid (36% )and vancomycin( 32 %). The examined isolates of S.aureus showed the presence of some resistance gene blaZ and mecA, the blaZ gene was amplified in only 3 isolates 3/6, while mecA gene was detected in all examined isolates 6/6 and the virulence genes (hlg) was detected in only 3 isolates 3/6 in all examined isolates . |
