Abstract

It is a great idea to convert carbon dioxide emissions (by-product) into value added product such as methanol. Carbon dioxide emissions have negative impacts on health and environment because it contributes with the largest percent of greenhouse gases which lead to global warming and climate change. It is found that the main source of carbon dioxide emission in Egypt is refinery plants. Due to the importance of methanol in all world and increasing the applications of it. The objective of this thesis is conversion of carbon dioxide emissions to methanol environmentally and economically. For achieving this objective, Aspen HYSYS simulation program is used for simulation of CO2 capture plant and methanol production plant. Techno-economic analysis and environmental analysis are performed and then comparison between the results of study and other previous studies.
