Abstract Memory disorders became an important issue nowadays. Memory is the ability of an organism to store and recall information and experiences (Dudai, 2004). In addition, the exact circadian modulation of learning and memory is still under experimentation. Moringa is a small genus of the monogeneric family moringaceae, comprised of 13 species of trees and shrubs distributed in Africa and Asia. Moringa species have a broad variety of uses in medicine, food, cosmetics and oil production. Various parts of the plants possess many medicinal uses, pharmacological activities and provide sources of numerous medicinal compounds. Moringa oleifera is the most widely distributed species in this genus. It is the most popular and promising due to its multifarious beneficial uses. Over the past two decades, many reports have appeared in mainstream scientific journals documenting the nutritional and medicinal properties of this species. Organizations have also promoted and advocated M. oleifera as a “miracle tree” and as a result it has gained growing international interest (Padayachee and Baijnath, 2012). Moringa peregrina is one of the most economically important and valuable medicinal plants in the Egyptian desert. However, its existence is threatened by over-grazing and disturbance through unmanaged human activities, hence the protection and conservation of M. peregrina is very much needed (Zaghloul et al., 2010). |
