Abstract

Background: While complement C1q shows promise as a diagnostic biomarker for cerebral small vessels disesa.
Aim of the Study: The aim of this study is to compare the concentration of serum C1q between patients with incidental cerebral small vessel disease (iCSVD) and heathy controls in Egyptian people and to explore if it can act as a biomarker for cerebral small vessels disease in early stages. Patients and methods: The study will include 20 patients of incidental Cerebral small vessel disease and 30 control group- 20 of CSVD group.
Conclusion: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to evaluate serum complement C1q in patients with cerebral small vessel disease. We report that C1q is elevated in patients with iCSVD compared to healthy age-matched and risk factor-matched controls. While C1q shows promise as a diagnostic biomarker for CSVD, it does not appear to correlate with clinical symptoms or radiological findings in this population.
