Abstract

The world’s population is now seriously threatened by environmental deterioration, and healthcare organizations are seen as one of the causes of this threat. Therefore, healthcare organizations became under increased demand to enhance their social and environmental sustainability. Ethical leaders are seen to be crucial forces behind organizational behavior; they can foster an environment that supports GB and be role models for their followers to imitate. Hence the present study aims to investigate EL and its relationship with nursing staff’s GB and perceived GWC. It is hoped that such a study helps administrators of healthcare organizations to understand the importance of EL in enhancing GWC and nurses’ GB.
Aim of the study: This study aims to investigate EL and its relationship with nursing staff’s GB and perceived GWC for environmental sustainability. Research design: A descriptive correlational research design was utilized to accomplish the aim of the study. This research design was used to explain the relationship between two or more variables without making any assertions on the cause and effect (Fowler, 2013). Setting: This study was conducted at Alexandria New Medical Centre Hospital (ANMC), which is one of the private sector hospitals at Alexandria Governorate under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Population. It has become one of the most significant medical centers in its region. Which created in 1988 as the first private hospital founded and built as an integrated hospital to provide premium and integrated services in various medical fields with a bed capacity of 168. The number of units that was included in the study = 16 units. Also, it became an accredited hospital after getting an accreditation certificate for medical facilities from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR).
Subjects:
The sampling technique for the current study was non-probability convenience sampling of study subjects (n=221), who were either professional nurses with a baccalaureate degree (n=158) or technical nurses with a diploma (n=63). They were available in the pre-mentioned setting at the time of collecting the data, willing to take part in study research, responsible for direct or indirect activities for inpatient units, had no administrative responsibilities, and had at least 6 months of experience at ANMC hospital.
