Abstract
The study was performed on 40 male albino Wistar rats aged about two months with body weights 130-150 g. The study continued for five weeks. All Rats were given NAC (150 mg /kg) for a week. Then, the animals were equally allocated into the following four groups (10 rats /group). Control group: Rats received the basal diet all the experiment. Iron group: Rats were administrated intraperitoneal injection of iron dextran (60 mg/kg/day) for the next four weeks. NAC group: Rats were given NAC orally at a dose of 150 mg/kg/day in the morning. Then, they were given intraperitoneal injections of iron dextran (60 mg/kg/day) in the afternoon for the next four weeks. AOP group: Rats were administered AOP orally (150 mg/kg/day) in the morning. Then, they were given intraperitoneal injections of iron dextran (60 mg/kg/day) in the afternoon for the next four weeks.
