Abstract
The emergence ofantibiotic-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa has
renewedeffortstoidentifysafeandnaturalsubstituentagentssuchasprobiotics.
Inthepresentstudy,weevaluatedtheroleoftheLactobacillusacidophilusisolatedfromcommercialcapsules(PuritanPride,USA)against Pseudomonas aeruginosaand its biofilm isolated from long-termurethralcatheter.sampleswerecollectedfrom120patientsadmittedtoAssuit Urology Hospital. Bacterial identification was done bycultivationonselectivemediaandbybiochemicaltests.AntibioticsusceptibilityTestingwasperformed.Biofilmassaywasconductedbytwomethods:Congo red method and Microtiter plate assay. L.acidophiluswas isolatedandincubatedanaerobicallyinMRSbrothat37ºCfor24h,thencentrifugationfor15minutesat10000rpm.TheinhibitioneffectofprobioticsonP.aeruginos .
