Abstract The present study was established to estimate chloramine-T residue in tilapia fish using HPTLC and determine safety exposure of tilapia to chloramine-T. A total number of 65 tilapia fish were used in this study after dividing them into 2 equal groups (each of 30 fish) and exposed to chloramine-T at 10 mg/L , 20 mg/L each exposure is lasted for 3 consecutive days and remaining 5 fish under control. Chloramine concentrations were assayed in serum, live, kidney and muscle of tilapia for 5 days post last administration dose using HPTLC. It could be concluded that after 4 days, only one fish muscle showed a very low concentration residue, meanwhile other organs were under detection limit (<11.25 ng), on the other hand residues of chloramine couldn’t be detected in kidney at both doses 10 mg/L and 20 mg/L. It can be concluded that tilapia fish safely exposed to 20mg/L on 3consecutive days based on residue results in muscle tissues. residues were within the permissible limit issued by FDA 0.9 ppm in muscle/skin of fish, and total residues don`t exceed the safe concentration of 1.0 ppm. |
