Abstract
CVD morbidity and mortality could be greatly reduced in primary prevention through more effective behavioral interventions, risk factor control and optimal use of prophylactic treatments, which is why healthcare professionals must make every effort to correctly implement clinical practice guidelines.
It is recommended to implement strategies for prevention in patients with risk factors, including lifestyle changes, risk factor management and pharmacological optimization to lower risk of mortality and morbidity.
To ensure that evidence-based guidelines are followed, health systems must adopt strategies to facilitate adherence to preventive services guidelines. Further efforts are needed to find the best encouragements to overcome the barriers to implementation.
