Abstract

The present study was performed during the three consecutive seasons 2019, 2020 and 2021 on “Superior” grapevines grown in a private vineyard located at El- Hawatra village, Minia district, Minia Governorate on Forty-two, the vines were similar in vigour and 14 years old, where the soil texture is clay, Well drained and water table not less than 2.0 meters in depth. All the selected vines are planted art 2.0 x 3.0 meters apart. (700 vines per fedd.). The chosen vines vines were pruned during the second week of December in three investigated seasons, can pruning method was used, the vines were trellised by Gable system. Vine load was 96 eyes/vine for all the selected vines (on the basis of 6 fruiting canes x 14 eyes plus 6 renewals spurs x two eyes ). Surface irrigation system, was adapted by using Nile water.
This study was initiated to investigate the effect of each at Pota crastal and Vast trivolium compounds and their frequencies, these compounds containing most macro and micro- nutrients, some amino acids, seaweed extracts and some vitamins on growth, vine nutritional status, yield and quality of berries of superior grapes.
This study included the following seven treatments from application of Pota crastal and Vast trivolium each at 0.1% and frequencies.
8- Control (untreated vines)
9- Spraying Pota crastal compound at 0.1% once at growth start (1st week of Mar.)
10- Spraying Pota crastal compound at 0.1% twice at growth start (1st week of Mar.) and again just at berry setting (1st week of Apr.)
11- Spraying Pota crastal compound at 0.1% thrice at growth start (1st week of Mar.), again just at berry setting (1st week of Apr.) and one month later (1st week of May).
12- Spraying Vast trivolium compound at 0.1% once at growth start (1st week of Mar.)
13- Spraying Vast trivolium compound at 0.1% twice at growth start (1st week of Mar.) and again just at berry setting (1st week of Apr.)
14- Spraying Vast trivolium compound at 0.1% thrice at growth start (1st week of Mar.), again just at berry setting (1st week of Apr.) and one month later (1st week of May).
Each treatment was of three replicates, two vine per each. Triton B as a wetting agent at 0.05% was added to all Pota crastal and Vast trivolium solutions. Randomized complete block deisgn (RCBD) was adopted for carrying out statistical analysis of obtained data during three seasons.
During three seasons of the experiment the following parameters were measured:
Main shoot length (cm.), leaf area (cm)2 wood ripening coefficient, pruning wood weight / vine (kg.) , chlorophyll a , b , total chlorophylls, total carotenoids (mg/ 1.0 g F.W.), leaf content of N, P, K and Mg ( as %) , as well as Fe , Mn and Zn (as ppm), berry setting %, yield per tree (kg.) number of clusters/ vine , weight (g.) , length and width of cluster (cm.), berry weight (g.) and dimensions (longitudinal and equatorial) (cm.) , shot berries %, TSS %, reducing sugars %, total acidity % and TSS% / acid ratio.
The nearly some obtained data during the three seasons could be summarized under the following main topics
1-Some vegetative growth characters:
The four vegetative growth traits studied namely; average shoot length, average leaf area, coefficient of wood ripening and weight of pruning wood per vine were positively affected with spraying Pota crastal compound or Vast trivolium compound each at 0.1%. Also, the increase in these characteristics was related to the increase in the number of spraying times of either compound, compared to the control treatment. Using Vats trivolium compound was superior than using Pota crastal compound in improving growth characters. The best results were obtained main shoot length, leaf area, wood ripening coefficient and pruning wood weight per vine when spraying Vast trivolium compound at 0.1% three times.
2- Leaf chemical composition
An obvious promotion on the leaf content chlorophyll a, b , total chlorophylls and total carotenoids , N, P, K, Mg, Fe, Mn and Zn was observed due to spraying Pota crastal compound or Vast trivolium compound each art 0.1% . The improvement in these characteristics was linearly related to the increase in the number of spraying times for either compound relative to the control treatment.
Using Vast trivolium compound had a superior effect than using Pota cratsal compound. There was a gradual increase in these characteristics when the number of spraying times was increased.
The best treatment in this connection included the spraying Vast trivolium compound at 0.1% three times. While, the minimized values were recorded on untreated superior grapevines.
3-Percentages of berry setting, yield and cluster weight and dimensions:
These parameters were considerably improved due to using Pota crastal compound at 0.1% or Vast trivolium compound at 0.1%. Treating the vines once , twice or thrice comparing with the check treatment.
Spraying of Vast trivolium compound was preferable than using Pota crastal compound each at 0.1% in this connection.
It was an increase in the berry setting %, yield and cluster weight and dimensions was linked to an increase in the number of spraying times of the compounds from one to three times.
The best results with regard to berry setting % and yield were observed owing to spraying Vast trivolium compound at 0.1% three times. While, the minimized values were recorded for untreated vines.
4-Percentage of shot berries
There was a remarkable reduction on the percentage of shot berry with using spraying Pota crastal compound at 0.1% or Vast trivolium compound at 0.1% rather than non- application. The reduction on the percentage of shot berry was considerably associated an increase in the number of spraying times of the compounds from one to three times. Using Vast trivolium compound was superior than using Pota crastal compound each at 0.1% in this respect.
The lowest values were recorded on the vines that received Vast trivolium compound at 0.1% three times.
5- Some physical and chemical characteristics of the berries:
All physical and chemical characteristics of the berries were positively affected by spraying Pota crastal compound or Vast trivolium compound rather than using control treatment.
This promotion as appeared in terms of increasing berry weight and dimensions (length and diameter) TSS%, TSS % /total acidity ratio and reducing sugars % and in decreasing total acidity %.
The improvement in these traits was associated was linked to an increase in the number of spraying times of the compounds from one to three times.
Spraying Vast trivolium compound was considerably preferable than using Pota crastal compound each at 0.1% in this respect.
The best results with regard to quality of the berry were obtained owing to spraying the vines three times with Vast trivolium compound at 0.1%.
