Abstract

Traditional methods of learning and instruction are no longer sufficient in today’s world. The internet and other electronic technologies have had a significant impact on traditional educational approaches and have ushered in new opportunities for successful learning. So, in the last decade, several higher education degrees have included e-portfolios in an effort to assist students in connecting theory, practice, and personal experiences.
A portfolio is an excellent learning tool because it provides a realistic, performance- based evaluation and enables learners to take charge of their own learning. It reflects a student’s developmental status because it is a systematic collection of student evidence- based products gathered over time.
The cardinal characteristic of portfolios is reflection, because it demonstrates what the portfolio owner has learned by justifying the inclusion of certain products in the portfolio.
So that, the portfolio committee at the Faculty of Medicine Suez Canal University decided to introduce the e-portfolio for the first time instead of traditional paper portfolio to the second-year medical students in the academic year of (2021-2022).
This descriptive study was conducted to improve the e-portfolio implementation among the undergraduate medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University through assessing the perception of both the second-year medical students and the mentors regarding this newly applied e- portfolio experience.
