Abstract Results: Bleaching increased enamel surface roughness value (0.6 ± 0.10nm) more than the baseline value (0.3 ± 0.09 nm) while decreased enamel microhardness (239.4 ±5.33 MPa) compared to unbleached group (334.9 ± 4.26 MPa). After remineralization with Curodont, there was a significant decrease in enamel surface roughness value (0.4 ± 0.06 nm) and significant increase in enamel microhardness (300.3 ± 5.92 MPa) while remineralization with Novamin caused a slight decrease in enamel surface roughness (0.5 ± 0.08 nm) and slight increase in enamel microhardness (252.8 ± 7.35 MPa). Spearman’s correlation test revealed that their was an inverse relationship between surface roughness and microhardness in group 3 after bleaching (rs = -0.177), in group 4 after bleaching (rs = -0.818) and a strong correlation between surface roughness and microhardness after treatment of samples with Curodont and Novamin as whenever surface roughness decreased the microhardness increased, (rs = -0.921) with (p value <0.001) in group 3 and (rs = -0.855) with (p value <0.002) in group 4. |
