Abstract H. pylori infection is one of the most prevalent gastrointestinal bacterial infections in children. The infection has been linked to a variety of gastric and extragastric pediatric health problems. The choice of a proper initial H. pylori eradication therapy is usually a difficult task, especially in developing countries where high rates of antibiotic resistance are found. Unfortunately, there are few pediatric studies comparing the various therapeutic choices in developing countries in general and in Egypt in particular. The current randomized controlled trial aimed to compare the efficacy and safety profiles of five different treatment regimens: triple therapy, sequential therapy, hybrid therapy, concomitant therapy, and ciprofloxacin-based triple therapy as an empirical first-line therapy for the eradication of H. pylori infection in children |
