First- Study Problem:
The spread of obesity is one of the most important health challenges facing the world at present and poses a special threat to university youth. Unhealthy nutrition and an inactive lifestyle are major causes of obesity among university youth. Many of them suffer from a lack of awareness of the dangers of obesity and its negative impact on health.
The profession of social work and generalist practice comes to play a vital role in educating university students about the problems of obesity and how to escape from it. Social workers provide integrated awareness programs targeting this age group, where they are directed toward making healthy decisions regarding nutrition and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
Moreover, social workers provide psychological and social support to university youth who suffer from obesity problems. They help them overcome the psychological and social challenges associated with obesity, such as decreased social acceptance and pressures on physical appearance. This personal and professional support is crucial to fostering university youth’s desire for change and the pursuit of better health.
In addition, social work can work to form partnerships with educational institutions and various health specializations to enhance health awareness and provide the necessary resources for university youth. This is done by organizing various workshops, seminars, and awareness activities targeting this age group, to enhance their understanding of the importance of physical and psychological health and to encourage positive health decisions.
In short, confronting the problem of obesity prevalence among university youth requires cooperation and integrated efforts.
A social work profession can play a vital role in educating college youth about obesity issues and helping them transition to healthy lifestyles. Through awareness, personal change, and ongoing support, university youth can overcome obesity challenges and lead healthy, sustainable lives.
