Abstract

Different Gemini cationic surfactants of different fatty acids were prepared by quternization of diester with amide derivative from five fatty acids. The chemical structure of the synthesized amides was confirmed by FTIR and 1HNMR spectra. The surface active properties of the prepared compound were studied. Also antimicrobial behaviors of these compounds were reported. The prepared Gemini cationic surfactants were used to prepare the particles of cuprous oxide, which investigated by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and X Ray Diffraction (XRD). The results showed that surface and interfacial tensions of surfactant solutions were decreased by the addition of the surfactants because the amphipathic structure causes the surfactant molecules to concentrate at the surface and reduce the surface tension. Both the CMC and ɤcmc value show a regular decrease with the increase in the number of methylene group, as expected due to increasing hydrophobicity. Most of prepared Gemini cationic surfactants provided high foaming properties as measured by the height of the foam initially produced, high foam stability as indicated by the decrease in the foam height measured 3&5 min after foam formation, but foam stability remains stable for long time. In this study were observed Emulsification power of five Gemini Cationic surfactants (Ⅴa-e) increased due to increasing hydrophobicity. The prepared Gemini cationic surfactants are affected by alkaline medium rather than acidic medium in which they possess high extent stabilization in their structure for more than 24 hours. Gemini cationic surfactants used as emulsifying so it is used in preparing facial cream because it stable in emulsion and easily absorbed. The particles size was studied by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Preparation of copper oxide nanoparticles in presence of different Gemini cationic surfactant are carried by using Fehling’s solution under condition of reaction to give nanoparticles of Gemini cationic surfactant.
