Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) is considered as the third most common malignancy with the incidence of 1.9 million new cases and annual a million cancer deaths all over the world. In Egypt, CRC is one of the most dangerous malignant neoplasms, with a percentage of 6.5% of all cancers according to the reports of the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University. TUG1 is a LncRNA that has a critical role in proliferation, differentiation, adhesion, and apoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells. It is expressed by most cancers including breast, gastric and pancreatic carcinomas. MiRNA-142, is located on chromosome 17. Several studies have revealed that MiR-142-3p was accused of being associated with CRC progression and invasion. The EMT process is regulated mainly by a group of transcription factors having pleiotropic effects. The ZEB1 gene is a human gene encoding the ZEB1 protein. It is considered as the master EMT transcription factor associated with the aggressive course, metastasis, chemo and radio-resistance, and poor prognosis in many types of cancers. |
