Abstract Rotational control of the knee is crucial for knee stability.The anterolateral ligament has been identified as a potentially important structure involved in rotational control of the knee .The ALL seems to stabilize medial rotation of the knee .However, the anterior cruciate ligament is the most important contributor to rotatory knee stability. It is uncertain if an isolated anterolateral ligament injury with an intact anterior cruciate ligament injury leads to knee instability .Combined ALL and ACL reconstruction is required in the following cases: |
