Abstract
Hair greying is a common process happening with aging, however some people experience hair greying at younger ages. Hair includes melanin, a pigment which is determined genetically. The process of hair greying has been related to the loss of pigment generating melanocytes.
Our research aims to identify the commencement and pattern of hair greying among \sindividuals with diverse age groups and of both genders in Minia governorate.
This research was done on 5000 cases completed a predesigned questionnaire, All patients live with family with most of them intermediate level of living , several of them were poor standard of living and some of them were high standard of living. As respect educational level many of them were illiterate, most of them were low education and some of them were high education.
A number of instances were out of job, many of them were employee and some of them were daily worker.
All patients had hair greying which began at mean age of thirties as respect section of head hair greying appear most of cases majority of cases greying appeared widespread ,most of them were frontal, many of them were temporal, some were occipital and some were vertical. Head greying began largely frontal in majority of instances, many of them in temporal, some in occipital and few in vertical.
In men hair greying began frontal at mean age of teens ,temporal at mean of age of thirties ,occipital at mean of age twenties and widespread at mean of age of forties. In females hair greying began frontal at mean of age thirties, temporal at mean of age forties vertical at teens ,occipital at forties and widespread at forties .
Hair greying began in frontal region in half of patients, temporal in forty percent of cases, occipital in traces of cases and vertical also . In males hair greying began temporal in eighty percent of cases , frontal in thirteen percent of cases , occipital in six percent of instances . in females hair greying began frontal in seventy percent of cases temporal in twenty percent of instances and traces started vertical and occipital
In men hair greying shows general in seventy percent of cases, temporal in twenty percent of cases, in four percent of cases appears frontal, and rarely it appears occipital. In females it occurs widespread in seventy percent of cases , temporal in six percent of instances , and seldom to show vertical and occipital .
An unknown percentage of individuals experience premature greying from familial inheritance or pathologic conditions as such as myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, stroke, liver cirrhosis, or cancer or trace element deficiency as low serum calcium, low serum vitamin B12, serum ferritin and vitamin D3 levels .
Free radical hypothesis of hair greying has also been postulated. PGH has been reported to be connected with a range of autoimmune illnesses, abnormalities of endocrine systems, UV radiation, medications, smoking, deficits of trace elements like low blood calcium, serum ferritin and vitamin D3 levels and dietary inadequacies.
We found that some of cases answered yes that they took any medicine before grey hair to appear many answered yes that they take any medicine, most of cases answered yes that they faced stress before appearance of hair greying, many of cases answered yes that they have family member have grey hair in young age, No cases had any hereditary disease in the family, many of cases have another disease in the body, some of cases have hearing impairment, No patients had any infection of eye, some had colored eyes from infancy, some of cases had muscle weakness, majority of cases consume balanced diet majority of cases had normal thyroid function, some had hyperthyroidism and some had hypothyroidism. Also we found that some of cases have tumors in the body, no cases had abnormal pigmentation of skin, many of them have diabetes mellitus, no cases had enlarged lymph nodes of axilla, groin, or neck, some of cases had joint pain or swelling, no cases had been exposed to radiation before, unilateral vitiligo of your face, exposed to trauma after which hair greying appear, had herpes zoster at any part of your body, had anaevus or pigmentation at site of hair greying before or epilepsy, most of cases had exposed to sun for long periods. We noticed that many of patients had anemia, some of cases had autoimmune illness, many of cases had used hair dyes earlier, Mean time for using hair dyes was 8.06 years, As reference eye illness most of patients hadn’t glaucoma or cataract however , some had cataract and others had glaucoma.
We observed that many of instances were disappointed about white hair, most of cases had no difficulty, many of cases experienced bully surroundings feeling about their hair greying, most of cases were normal with age and many of cases hair greying influencing their lives but most of them had no influence.
