Abstract Osteoporosis is defined as a systemic disease characterized by loss of bone mass and microarchitectural deterioration of bone tissue, with a consequent increase in bone fragility and susceptibility to fracture risk. Osteoporosis is a metabolic phenomenon under different influences. The peak human bone mass is noted in the third decade of life. Bone mass declines thereafter as a natural process. If this process exceeds a certain critical level, then osteoprosis, as a disease, may be defined. |
