Abstract

The present study investigated the effectiveness of using digital storytelling based instruction in developing some EFL listening comprehension skills and attitudes toward English language among preparatory stage pupils. Sixty four of first year preparatory school pupils at Om El Momenin school Menoufia Governorate were assigned to two groups: experimental group (N=32) and control group (N=32). Two main instruments were used: [An EFL listening comprehension test and an attitude towards English language scale]. The EFL listening comprehension test and the scale were administered before and after the implementation. Quantitative data analyses were conducted; t-test was used to compare the mean scores of the experimental and the control groups. Results revealed that the participants’ EFL listening comprehension skills and attitude towards English were improved significantly as a result of using digital storytelling based instruction. Therefore, it can be concluded that digital storytelling based instruction was effective in developing first year preparatory school pupils’ EFL listening comprehension and attitude towards English language.
