The importance of the integrative program for the treatment of neurotic depression after hysterectomy appeared in a sample of wives Depression is undoubtedly the most common psychological phenomenon in this era. It is most likely that any individual may at one time possess a feeling of sadness or distress, or feel disturbances in the pattern of his practice of his usual activities such as work, sleep and eating, and may include feelings of ( immorality) Or feelings of guilt, feelings of worthlessness, low self-esteem, listlessness and apathy. Syndrome describes a group of symptoms that are usually observed during clinical observation, and they generally include depressive, neurotic mood, loss of interest, anxiety, sleep disturbances, loss of appetite, lack of energy and suicidal thoughts, and there may be cases of crying. Slowness in speaking and doing, and sometimes there are withdrawal symptoms, and this feeling is experienced by all men and women alike.
Problem of the study:
The problem of the study is crystallized in the following main question:
Is it possible to treat neurotic depression after hysterectomy in a sample of wives through the integrative counseling program?
from this main question, the following sub-questions are derived:
1- Are there significant differences between the experimental group members after applying the program and the control group members in neurotic depression?
2- Are there fundamental differences between the members of the experimental group before and after applying the program used in the study?
3- Are there fundamental differences between the members of the experimental group immediately after applying the program and after the follow-up period?
Objectives of the study:
1- Treating cases of neurotic depression that married women suffer from after undergoing hysterectomy, through an integrative therapeutic program.
2- The study aims to verify the continued effect of the integrative program for the treatment of neurotic depression after hysterectomy in a sample of wives.
3- The study also aims to test the effectiveness of the integrative counseling program and the extent of its follow-up effect on wives who suffer from neurotic depression after hysterectomy.
the importance of studying:
The importance of the study lies in preparing an integrative therapy program for a woman who undergoes hysterectomy, which causes her to develop neurotic depressive disorder.
First: The theoretical aspect:
1- Enriching the psychological field with various knowledge about the psychological accompaniments of hysterectomy.
2- Enriching the field for a variety of knowledge about neurotic depression.
3- Knowing the psychological results of hysterectomy and the accompanying psychological, health and sexual changes for women.
4- The need to design an integrated counseling program for the treatment of neurotic depression after hysterectomy for wives in line with their characteristics.
Secondly, the practical aspect:
The practical significance of this study was as follows:-
1- Psychologists who follow hysterectomy cases may benefit from the results of the study.
2- The program may be applied to similar cases, such as mastectomy.
3- This study may be useful in preparing preventive programs against neurotic depression before surgery.
4- The need to design a scale for wives suffering from neurotic depression after hysterectomy.
5- This study is also - as far as the researcher knows - one of the rare Arab studies in this field.
Study hypotheses of the Study : Hypotheses:
Based on what was stated in the theoretical framework of the study, and in light of what was presented from previous studies, the researcher formulated the hypotheses of the current study as follows:
1- There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups on the depression scale in the direction of the experimental group.
2- There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group members in the pre and post measurements on the depression scale in the direction of the post measurement.
3- There are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group members in the post and follow-up measurements on the depression scale.
Study procedures:
The study sample :
The initial sample consisted of (150) women.
The application sample: it consisted of (20) women who had a hysterectomy and were divided into two groups:
An experimental group of (10) women
A control group of (10) women.
Study tools:
The current study required the use of a set of tools, namely:
1- Neurotic depression scale (prepared by the researcher).
2- Primary data form for the sample (prepared by the researcher).
3- An integrative therapeutic program for neurotic depression (prepared by the researcher).
The statistical methods used in the study:
1- Factor analysis.
2- The Wilcoxon test to indicate the differences between the pre and post measurements, and between the post and follow-up measurements.
3- Mann-Whitney test to indicate the differences between the experimental and control groups.
4- Spearman-Brown correction coefficient for calculating the stability of the scale by segmentation in half.
Results :
1- There are statistically significant differences between the experimental group and the control group on the neurotic depression scale in the direction of the experimental group.
2- There are statistically significant differences between the pre and post measurements in the experimental group on the neurotic depression scale in the direction of the post measurement.
3- There are no statistically significant differences between the post and follow-up measurements in the experimental group on the neurotic depression scale.
