Abstract
Striae distensae is a kind of scar that is created when our skin stretches or shrinks quickly. The abrupt change produces collagen and elastin that support our skin, to rupture, as the skin heals, SM may appear. SD results from skin changes in puberty, pregnancy, rapid weight loss or gain, rapid muscle growth, and prolonged application of topical corticosteroid to the skin. A variety of treatment modalities have been attempted for SD, ranging from topical treatment such as tretinoin, HA, chemical peel, laser therapy, microdermabrasion, radiofrequency, and ultrasound are also used as procedural treatment for SD. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the skin, and it helps to bind water to collagen, trapping it in the skin, so that skin can appear plumper, dewier, and more hydrated. Basically, HA increases hydration in the skin, which can keep the skin looking fresh, full, and bouncy. HA has been advocated as a treatment option for acne scars, skin regeneration and healing, skin rejuvenation, soft tissue filler, skin moistening and improve skin structure. HA is also found to be effective in SD as it increases collagen production. Ultrasound was recently introduced as a new treatment for therapeutic and cosmetic purposes. It improves the appearance of sagging skin by depositing focused ultrasound energy below the surface to stimulate the body‟s creation of new collagen, the natural protein that gives skin its youthful firmness and elasticity. MFU is used to improve the appearance of SD and give additional benefits with using HA. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of MFU in the treatment of SD with and without topical application of gold thioethyle amino HA serum.
