Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate Anterior lens capsule thickness, iris thickness, Pupil diameter, AC depth, corneal epithelial thickness in patients with pseudo-exfoliation syndrome (PXS).
The study was performed in the outpatient clinic of Benha university hospital. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants.
Our study included 20 eyes of 18 patients (2 patients have bilateral PXS) in the PXS group and 20 eyes (of 10 persons) in the normal control group over 50 years of age.
Prior intraocular surgery, iris dyscoria, anterior synechia, history of DM, lymphoma, sarcoidosis, signs of intraocular inflammation, patients on glaucoma medication or IOP ≥21mmHg were exclusion criteria.
Full ophthalmological examination including history taking, refraction, best corrected visual acuity, IOP measurement, fundus examination and AS-OCT imaging for measurement of ALC thickness, midperipheral iris stromal thickness, iris thickness at the pupillary border and ciliary border, pupil diameter after pharmacological dilatation, AC depth and corneal epithelial thickness was done for both PXS and control groups.
Our study revealed significant increase thickness of central ALC in PXS group by 11% when compared to control group.
Pupillary diameter after pharmacological dilatation decrease in PXS group by 21.3% as compared to the control group.
