Abstract
The pharmaceutical research sector’s inability to produce new drugs made it difficult to keep up with the rate at which microbial resistance is developing. Recently nanotechnology and their combinations with natural products are the saviors against multi-drug resistant (MDR) microbes. 1. Fresh & dried flesh of the fruit, fresh & dried epicarp and seeds of “Zaghloul”, “Hayany” and “Amhaat” Egyptian and Saudi (“Suqaey”, “Barhi” and “Ajwa”) dates were extracted by methanol/chloroform (2:1) using Soxhlet extraction technique. Each extract was tested against MDR microbes. 2. The inhibition zone (IZ) diameters of Egyptian and Saudi date extracts ranged from 6.0 to 24.0 and from 6.0 to 10.5 mm against the tested microbes respectively. Therefore, Egyptian date extracts were chosen for further analyses.
