Abstract Abstract The Internet of Things (IoT) contributed to develop new concepts of monitoring and control systems for Air Handling Units (AHU). This thesis proposes a modification of the traditional temperature monitoring and control system in AHU to a new system based on the principles of the IoT. The new system has the features and characteristics of IoT in accessing, following up, and modifying the system. In the proposed system, a cloud controller is built on an IoT platform, and the existing traditional temperature sensor and actuator are modified to be connected to the internet and then send and receives the data with the IoT platform. The cloud controller receives the sensor readings and sends the control signals to the actuator according to the controller algorithm. A temperature alarm mail system is configured to send alarm mail to the authorized people when the temperature value is out of limits. The proposed system gives remote access to display the temperature readings and the controller’s output. Thus, the performance of the system can be monitored with the ability to modify thecontroller to suit the system’s needs. The proposed system is implemented and tested in real AHU using thingSpeak as an IoT platform and a SIEMENS temperature sensor and actuator.
