Abstract

Twenty eight weaned V-line rabbit bucks were divided randomly into four equal groups: 1st group (G1) was permitted to drink unmagnetized tap water and served as control, 2nd group (G2) drink magnetized tap water, 3rd group (G3) drink unmagnetized well water, and 4th group (G4) drink magnetized well water. The experiment lasted for 11 weeks. Well water salinity was 4000 ppm and the strength of the magnet was 10000 Gauss. In the magnetized water groups, average daily gain, growth rate and feed conversion ratio were increased while feed intake was decreased compared to the non- magnetized water groups. Salinity significantly decreased the plasma levels of total protein (TP), albumin (ALB), and glucose (GLU). Magnetization increased significantly both TP and GLU, while increased insignificantly ALB and globulin. Magnetized tap water significantly decreased alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and creatinine (CRT) in the serum. Magnetization of well water tended to decrease the alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), ALP, Gamma- glutamyltransferase (GGT), total bilirubin (T- Bill),CRT, and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) in rabbits by 10%, 25%, 24%, 25%, 27%, 58%, and 31%, respectively. Magnetization of well water tended to decrease both Triglycerides (TG) and Very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) significantly and low density lipoprotein (LDL) insignificantly. Tap water with magnetic exposure improved (P < 0.001) carcass traits without any side effects on internal organs with positive effect on caecum pH, ammonia and TVFAs concentration, unlike well water. Oral rabbits with administration of magnetized tap water led to improve their economic efficiency. It could be concluded that using magnetization, especially with saline water, decreases the adverse effect of salinity. Histological structures of liver and kidney were also discussed.
