Abstract

Ligamentous knee injury, one of the most common problems that face orthopedic surgeons, nowadays.
Orthopedic surgeons must master the art of clinical examination of meniscal and ligamentous knee.
In this study, our sample comprised of 62 patients, The studied patients underwent arthroscopic examination which revealed that 67.7%, 53.2%, 9.7%, 9.7% and 6.5% of the studied patients had medial meniscal tear, ACL tear, medial femoral chondral lesion, chondromalacia and lateral meniscal tear respectively.
ACL injury and meniscal injury had evaluated by MRI and clinical examination to have a good expectation for surgery. Positive ADT, Lachmann and Pivot shift tests or two of them can diagnose ACL tear with sensitivity 90.9%, specificity 100%, positive predictive value 100%, negative predictive value 90.6%, and overall accuracy 95.2%.
Pivot shift test has the highest accuracy and specificity and PPV among the tests that had done to patients with ACL injury.
Meniscal knee injury, MRI has higher accuracy, specifity sensitivity, PPV and NPV to detect actual meniscal knee than the clinical evaluation. Medial meniscus tear is more common than the Lateral meniscus tear in this study.
